214: Farewell to Hollywood

Fifty-five candles would melt the ice-cream-cake, so we improvise! Birthday party well under way! #rockin55

My birthday was celebrated in the usual high style. Here is the ritual ice cream cake.

What's On My Hooks, Needles, and Spindles:

Finished:

Clapotis the Second: replacing the stolen first Clap, in a different colorway of the same yarn.

Untitled

In Progress:

Beautiful Sunset Shawl--from the Camp CogKnitive 2015 colorway from the amazing Dizzy Blonde Studios.

Perennials Cowl--yarns by Pirate yarns and by Ombre (red)

23 out of 52 rows of chart done. I have realized that my gradient yarn won't be changing colors by the time I finish, but I do like this combination of colors. Having the predictable issues from using a single-ply yarn (the red) also. But it's a pleasant

Mei Mei Socks--one done, the other is waiting behind the shawls in progress.!

The OHM Shawl by Michelle Miller. In time out.

Dizzy Blondes:

The wheels are quiet again. No Spinzilla for me, but all the best to those of you who play along!

Strategy:
Find out what the other person really wants when you try to persuade them that you are right..

Put a Lid On It:
Canning! Jalapeno Salsa and melon pickles.

After a morning of knitting, I went for groceries, then started cooking at 4 PM! Results: brownies, bread, 6 pints salsa canned, and 6 pints of pickled melons canned, plus kale salad. Feeling better now😊

Aw Shoot!

First race is Oct 18th, while I try to finally get certified in SCUBA--Open Water. Training is behind because of the extreme heat here lately.

Something I Really Like:

OMG, I knew I forgot something. How about Needlepoints West (discussed in the Blather, actually).

Blather:

Generally catching up.

A review of the very excellent Needlepoints West--I got the name wrong in the podcast itself--ARG!!!--a great knitting resource just about one mile from the Los Angeles airport.

Some news of CFR7.

And a fond and grateful (if regretful) farewell to the excellent podcast Hollywood Knitter. We will miss your cheery voice, Allison!

It's hot. It's really hot.

What's On My Hooks, Needles, and Spindles:

Finished:

Then I wound the 2-ply yarn back onto a pencil and gave it to its owner.

Strategy:
Accepting the Shadow Self. Because you have one. Really.

Put a Lid On It:
Kitchen relatively quiet in the face of all the events, but I did process and freeze 10 pounds of organic tomatoes for future salsa making.

Aw Shoot!

SCUBA! It's in the Blather. meanwhile, I am back outside, starting the training program for my autumnal races.

Something I Really Like:
Darn!

Blather:
