What's On My Hooks, Needles, and Spindles:

Not yet finished:
The OHM Shawl by Michelle Miller .
One Row Lace Scarf
Stitches West 2014 Socks from the first yarn ever given to me by my son. I am almost finished the second sock!
The yarn from Dizzy Blonde Studios will be turning into socks shortly....

Finished:
Arm-Knitted Blanket

A good video on how to arm knit is right here.

Dizzy Blondes:
No spinning, due to sinus issues.

Strategy:
Take complete ownership of your mind. You CAN manage your thoughts and your sleep and your bad habits, unless you have some physical issue interfering. You CAN move mountains when you believe you can change your thinking and your behaviors.

Put a Lid On It:
Quiet in the kitchen. No time to pickle beets, so cook 'em overnight, peel and slice, then place in jar with oil & vinegar in fridge.

Aw Shoot!
I ran the Natasha Watley 5K in mid-March and shaved a minute off my 5K time; I placed 5th in my division.

Hey, Look! Here is the lighter me who now fits into clothes that I haven't been able to wear in 11 years!

image

Something I Really Like:

Zombies, Run! The most fun I've had running in years! For Mac or Android.

Blather:

Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic on March 23rd for my 3 youngest dogs--a recap. A LONG recap.

I will be at the Retzlaff Spinning gathering on June 7th.
Camp CogKnitive is coming (see above). July 25th!
CFR6 is on Oct. 11, 2014.

Dizzy Blondes:
No spinning, due to sinus issues.

Strategy:
Just keep moving! Believe that your small steps will actually accumulate into something valuable to you.

Put a Lid On It:
Raspberry-Chardonnay Jelly, Basil-Apple Jelly, Herbes de Provence Jelly--all from the Ball book. And pickled beets. Happy, happy weekend!

Aw Shoot!

My next race is March 15th--tomorrow! It went just fine, BTW; I placed 5th in my division. I also shaved a minute off my speed.

I am using Runtastic, Fitbit, and MyFitnessPal as apps to support my weight loss and running. All of these are on the Mac platform; I am not sure if they are on Android.

I am now 21.5 pounds lighter than I was on Oct. 15, 2013.

Don't overlook Costco as a good source for exercise clothing.

Something I Really Like:

Walking4fun.com: Virtual trail hiking on some very famous long-distance trails. You can link it to your fitbit or just add your steps manually. Awesome! I am about 40 miles into the Pacific Crest Trail right now!

Behavioral training in our home 4 times per week. What an experience! Our LG is really advancing!

Agents of Shield is back on Hulu+! Geek joy! I learned of this from the Podcast Knit 1 Geek 2.

Recipe: Nutribullet Smoothie

Here is a way for you to get some green veggies without noticing the taste too much and/or if you just want to get some more veggies into your diet:

Nutribullet recipe:

1 cup almond milk (30 calories)
 1 medium banana (100-105)
 2 T PB2 (45)
1/2 cup yogurt (70 calories)
frozen blueberries or other frozen fruit
about a handful of greens--spinach, kale, beet greens, collard greens
Calories: About 260-270

I use any frozen fruit for this, or, if I don't have anything frozen, I'll add an ice cube or two. This actually fills me up for a meal. I really like it for dinner, if I have had a big lunch.

The OHM Shawl by Michelle Miller .
One Row Lace Scarf
Stitches West 2014 Socks from the first yarn ever given to me by my son.

Finished:
Bear 40, 41, and 42 for Mother Bear!

Dizzy Blondes:

No spinning, due to sinus issues.

Strategy:

Do not mistake a polite and firm stating of a boundary as rudeness. You are allowed to have personal boundaries.

Put a Lid On It:

I have noticed that I need yogurt to be happy. I do not, however, need to add much honey to my yogurt cups to enjoy them. Also, for one gallon of milk, I now use 1.5 cups of starter to get a thicker yogurt. And do be sure that your starter is fresh enough.

More applesauce made and canned as well. Happy sigh.

Nutribullet recipe:
1 cup almond milk
1 medium banana
2 T PB2
1/2 cup yogurt (my homemade, if available)
frozen blueberries or other frozen fruit
about a handful of greens--spinach, kale, beet greens, collard greens

Aw Shoot!

Back to exercise routine after all the fun of Stitches and 2 trips to San Diego. My Fitbit has been located! Up to 1 hour on elliptical. Using Map My Walk app to track walking and Runtastic to track runs. Both feed into My Fitness Pal.

My next race is March 15th.

Something I Really Like:

My Nutribullet. It is really just a fast, thorough, easily cleaned blender.
My new Iphone 5c. The GPS feature has been a lifesaver.
Namaste's mesh bags
The Lego Movie!

image

Blather:
My son does a Lego presentation in San Diego. This was a great thing--the emphasis on teamwork was wonderful. And LEGOLAND was excellent!

image

I drank the potion and signed up for some Craftsy classes.

Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic on March 23rd!

Summer Mindfulness Retreat in Camarillo, CA--looking at June. $50 to attend.
Game plan:
Limited to 10-15 people
Mindfulness lessons, meditation, self-hypnosis training by the ocean.
Road trips to local yarn shops.
Road trips to local high-end outlet malls.

It's Mother Bear CAL/KAL time again! Details above.
