Dear Dr. Gemma, thank you so much for sharing your expertise. I am a new listener, slowly making my way from episode 1 of reboot. Slowly to draw out the pleasure of always having a new episode and to let new knowledge germinate. Although I would like to go back and take notes on DBT stuff because my pandemic brain needs repetition.
Please tell Minerva that I am a huge fan. It is wonderful to listen to her progress as she catches up on skills her mama did not get a chance to teach her. One of my kitties named Katya also lost her mama too early. She came to live with us completely unprepared to cat. I am happy to report that over the years she has found an identity that fits her somewhere between the queen of the house and an adorable kitty.
Over the pandemic I started to foster baby kittens. Which particular coping skill does it fall under? It is highly effective. But I wanted to tell you about baby Lilith. She was found cold to the touch with umbilical cord still attached. Lovely people who Trap, Neuter and Release kitties took her and nursed her (repeatedly!) back to health. Lilith is a gorgeous golden eyed panther. I had a pleasure to foster her for a month just to fatten her up until she was old enough to be spayed and adopted out. She was friendly, curious, and ridiculously affectionate. She played. She got along with other cats, dogs, and people. I did not expect her to be so well-adjusted and yet she was. I think I wanted to let your listeners know that sometimes kittens who got separated from their moms too soon are purrfectly (I am not even a little sorry for that one) fine straight out of adoption. And that it's always incredibly important to listen and watch a new fluffy family member to find a way to communicate to them that they are safe and loved.
With heart full of of hope and thoughts full of kitties,
Yours truly,
Natalya
