What's On My Hooks and Needles:

 Finished: Egleanor/Gigi:

A quick scrunchie experiment:
Formula for fabric: 2x fabric strips.
Strip is 2.5” x 24” for an elastic with a 6” circumference
You also need a larger safety pin.
1. Clip together one long edge of your two strips of fabric, Right sides together.
2. Sew that Edge.
3. Stuff your fabric through the elastic hairband, so that the right sides are facing each other, the wrong sides are facing out, and the seam you just made is on the inner side of the ring.
4. Now, sew that long outer edge very carefully from pin to pin or clip to clip, trying to keep that fabric Edge straight. In other words, treat this seem as though you are sewing a straight seam, not a curve. That means moving it very slowly through the machine and stitching from clip to clip, removing them as you go, and straightening the next piece of the seam.
5. Now pin your safety pin to one and of the tube and stuff, the pin inside the tube, pushing it all the way through to the other opening at the other short end of your tube. This will mean that you are now turning the fabric right side out.
6. At this point, you can hand sew the little tiny seam at the end of the tube. I cheated even more and just ran a few stitches in it from the outer edge to the elastic, without going over the elastic. So I have a little tiny hole, probably there, but you can’t see it.
If you look at the picture above, you will probably notice how tight my first band is. This is because I only doubled the length of the circumference of my elastic. Eventually, I simply measured a scrunchie that I like and realized that their tube was four times the length of the circumference of the elastic. Also, I used cotton leftovers from my quilting. The nicest scrunchies I have used, which do the least damage to my hair have to be the ones made from a silkier fabric. But this is a good way to use up scraps. And if you have longer hair, you get some really nice scrunchies this way to go with the skirts you just made or the quilts you’re lying on.

In Progress:

Stash toss 2026: 36 in, 115 out

Doing the sides, all the blocks are joined. Done up the side panels. Thinking of the liner, digging out an old flannel sheet.

Lakeside cardigan : Remaining: 1 set of front on panels, each is 2x2, weaving those ends, attaching, then major remaining seams.

It's crocheted and has been on my Rav projects page for months. I’m done the second torso piece and I've sewn it all together. On the left arm! That will leave the bottom ribbing section and some fixes on the bottom of the other arm.

A great video by The Shetland Trader on steeking armholes for stranded -pattern vests. A fine discussion of reinforcing and cutting a steek by Brooklynn Tweed. You do put underarm stitches on a stitch holder. You do still shape the armhole per the pattern. Currently shaping the armholes as I head for the neckline.
At neck and upper armhole shapings

Oceanside Top: Now on color #4 and onto the flutter sleeves section

Quilt squares and organizing— I have a 10 x 10 block SPECTACULAR quilt top! On to the backing!
A good tutorial on binding, intended for quilts, but useful for placemats.
The first Halloween placemat!
And then there were 2:

These are a great project for the evenings to just sit and listen to podcasts while you do the handing on the binding. I used a blanket stitch.

Repair work: Go ahead: find the patching work.:

Dizzy Blondes: nope.
Using the electric eel 6.1.

Strategy: 30 mins EMDR/evening with Calm app continues.
Gather those quickie patterns while ye may and make that gift list. And this is a good time to buy those gift cards before you start feeling the pinch of other Christmas spending.
