Episode 109: Christmas in December

Comments are welcomed! Either comment here or go to our group on Ravelry.

I have a YouTube channel "Doctor Gemma". Flash tips (1 minute or less) around surviving the pandemic and longer strategy discussions.

Buy Dr Gemma a Ko-Fi, if you're enjoying the podcast and feeling up to it. Remember that I am still working, though, so feel free to give the money to a charity instead.

I will NOT add you to any of my follower groups currently, due to robo-accounts. Please follow me here. You can contact me through our group on Ravelry or on this blog.

Warm Thanks :
Hannah Six and Chris H- for the generous and delicious ko-fi!
Everyone who has sent good wishes in response to my illness

What's On My Hooks and Needles:

In Progress:

Lanesplitter Skirt- I’ve turned the first corner and I’m on the straight-away--32 inches along!

Don't Know Yet--a year in blocks-- onward! Seaming experiment — 3 bottom rows are seamed, joined, and ends are woven in.
The miracle of time and yarns relaxing.

19 x 19 blocks! Romjul planning to seam.
18(19) squares=361 squares on about Dec 26.

Wrapped in Tiny Chains crocheted cardigan- back is done. Use measurements, not gauge. On to the second front panel! Stalled for ASL class

Lady Eleanor Shawl-- The Next Big Thing. Progress in middle of skein 7/11. 32” long so far.

My needles broke, but the new ones from One Big Happy Yarn Co. arrived + a nice project bag.

Romjul plans: glorious blues, KAL—report your plans, progress, etc here or on our Ravelry group, please!

Romjul KAL: The Rules:

  1. start your sweater any time before Dec 25.
  2. Donate some old woolens to a shelter or donate wearables made from your leftover yarns.
  3. Make any sweater you like from your leftovers.
  4. Drink good tea and eat good food
  5. Finish your sweater early in the New Year.
  6. Spend time with friends.
  7. Use any pattern you like.
  8. Deck your Halls.
  9. Give $5 minimum to the homeless.
  10. Fa-la-la-la. La La la la LAH!

Hi Dr G so sorry you've all had or are having the nastiness. Me too ! Over now but not nice. Just wanted you to know that you did inspire me with your KAL. I stuffed all my suitable yarn into a project bag and yhen fell at the last (first?) hurdle. However it did get me over my knitting block and I crocheted a friend a new neck warmer after she kept stroking her old one and claiming I made it. No memory of doing that!
All the best to you and yours for next year and please keep podcast ing. I have chronic head pain and often you and a hot water bottle get me through. Much appreciated.x
